What is W3C ?

w3cThe World Wide Web Consortium or W3C is an international consortium of companies involved in setting standards for the World Wide Web abbreviated as WWW or W3.

The W3C was founded currently led by Tim Berners-Lee in 1994. The consortium comprises of member organizations that maintain full-time staff for the purpose of working together to develope open standards for the World Wide Web. As of 24 May 2014, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has 385 members.

W3C also engages in education and outreach, develops software and serves as an open forum for discussion about the Web.
