A database is a collection of data in organized way. Some DBMS are MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Access, SQL Server, FileMaker, Oracle, RDBMS, dBASE, Clipper, and FoxPro. The DBMS manages user requests so that users and other programs can access the data from where it is physically located on storage media.

There are mainly four types of DBMS

  • Hierarchical DBMS : In a hierarchical database, records contain information about the relationships among the groups of parent and child , just like as  a tree structure
  • Network DBMS : A DBMS is said to be Network DBMS, when it organizes the data in a network structure, the network model allows each record to have multiple parent and child
  • Relational DBMS: A DBMS is said to be a Relational if the database manage relationships in the form of a table.
  • Object-oriented DBMS:  It manages data including graphics, audio, and video, object-oriented databases has a significant advantage over other database.
